Specialist dressmaking - Saturday 13th October 10am
If you're sewing and dressmaking at a basic level but want to improve your skill, this workshop is for you. You'll learn how to tackle sewing with tricky fabrics such as lace, and how to adapt a pattern to suit you and get that perfect fit.
You'll work from a block pattern to make a top to your own specifications - alter sleeve length, neckline and body length. Jenny will talk you through how to take a pattern and adapt it to suit you.
You'll then make your garment in lace, provided for you (a choice of colours is available), where you'll learn how to work with any tricky fabric, how to pattern match lace and how to finish your garment to a professional standard by creating and using your own bias binding, working with scallop edges and using french seams.
This workshop is suitable for those with a basic knowledge of sewing (not complete beginners).
Please select your size and colour choice of lace when checking out. To ensure we have the fabric required, all bookings including details of size and lace colour must be received by Thursday 2nd August. If a lace colour is out of stock we will of course let you know. Fabric swatches are also available to look at in the shop for a more accurate selection.
If you have your own lace you would like to bring, that's no problem - you'll need between 1m and 1.5m depending on size.
The workshop cost includes all materials and refreshments, you'll take home your own pattern and finished garment. You will also receive 10% off all Mustard shop purchases on the day.
